In design class we did an illustrated semi-abstract, stylized and compressed version of the original frakenstein story.

The top one sucks - but the other is awesome!
How did you figure out the shadows... i mean, basicially it's just some black splashes but at the same time it's clear that it's objects in shadows. Is it purely intuition on your behalf or is there a trick?
